The art of choosing
How to Choose a Fragrance Online
A practical guide to comparing perfume notes, bottle sizes, concentrations and scent preferences before buying online.
Start with the scents you love. Then find the bottle that fits your life.
01 / THE GUIDE
Start with what you already enjoy
Write down two or three fragrances you enjoy and what draws you to them. Is it a citrus opening, a soft floral character or a warm woody dry-down? Use those preferences as a starting point, rather than assuming that a popular perfume will suit everyone.
02 / THE GUIDE
Read the whole scent profile
Top, heart and base notes describe different parts of a fragrance's development. They are a guide to the intended scent, not a list of ingredients or a guarantee of exactly what you will smell. Compare the full profile instead of choosing on one note alone.

03 / THE GUIDE
Compare the exact bottle
Check the product name, concentration and volume together. An Eau de Parfum, a Parfum and a similarly named Elixir may be different fragrances. Compare the current price for the exact size you intend to buy.
04 / THE GUIDE
Use performance reviews in context
A reviewer's experience can help you ask better questions, but it cannot guarantee your own result. Skin, application and conditions influence wear. If you can try a fragrance before committing to a bottle, that gives you more useful evidence than a rating alone.
